Could you be a physical activity champion?

22 Apr 2016

In July, Healthy Liverpool will be launching a city-wide physical activity campaign with the aim of getting as many people as possible in the city active.  We want Liverpool to be the most active city in the country and we need your help to do it.

The campaign will focus on all of you, real people from the city sharing stories about how and why you became more active, and how being active has improved your lives.

By sharing these stories we want to inspire and motivate people from across the city, so we can start an active movement to get Liverpool moving!

We’re looking to bring together an army of campaign champions to help us motivate the city. If you would like to find out more contact communications@liverpoolccg.nhs.uk.

Hi I was told I had type 2 diabetes three years ago and was sent on the NHS course. Great course, and I decided that I would lose weight (about 3 stone), and to help achieve that have taken more exercise, which I have continued. Swimming in the dock has become my favourite, and I'm looking forward to starting that again this year. Happy to help if I can.

I recently formed a walking group after a knee operation resulting in me not being able to continue to run. I kept my same routine the same nights , time and routes as I did when I ran but converted it all to walking. What started off with just a couple of friends joining me has now grown with upto 20+ ladies and gents taking to the streets and beautiful parks of the south end of Liverpool. My aim is to encourage and promate a healer lifestyle by doing such a simple form of exercise such as walking , with a group of people who tell me each week how they enjoyed our walks and meeting new people. Friendships have been formed , parts of the city have been seen people didn't know existed - but must of all - I have enjoyed seeing these people progress week by week getting faster in their walking , conquering hills , and most of all how they have also helped keep me focused on my fitness levels and just giving me something to get myself back out in the fresh air for - all in all we help each other 😊
