Healthier You, the National Diabetes Prevention Programme, is now available for patients in Liverpool.
This is a free service for people with impaired glucose regulation (IGR) – also sometimes called non-diabetic hyperglycaemia or pre-diabetes.
It’s run as a series of group sessions where people learn to understand more about their condition and are given support to help prevent or delay the development of diabetes.
If you are pre-diabetic and interested in taking part in this programme, you will be eligible if you have had an HbA1c blood test with a reading in the range of 42-47mmol/l within the last 12 months.
You can contact your GP and ask them to refer you for this programme. You can also find more information about the programme here.
If you already have diabetes and would like some help with managing your condition, the Liverpool Diabetes Partnership also runs a range of education courses to help support you with this. For further information and advice, you can contact them on: 0151 529 2130.
